Michelle Obama to campaign with Kamala Harris in Michigan

 October 24, 2024

As we enter the home stretch before Election Day, it's clear that Kamala Harris needs a lot of help to stay afloat - with a smear machine firing on all cylinders to paint Donald Trump as a "fascist" as Democrats lean on their biggest stars, the Obamas, to push Kamala past the finish line.

This weekend in Michigan, Michelle Obama will make her first campaign appearance with Harris at a get-out-the-vote event. Obama's intervention is a stark reminder of Kamala's humiliating weakness as a candidate, which has left Democrats increasingly nervous.

Michelle Obama swoops in

Despite the tireless efforts of the media to prop Harris up as some kind of star, few would argue that she has anything comparable to Michelle Obama's popularity, and in fact, Obama was long seen as an ideal presidential candidate for Democrats before Harirs replaced Joe Biden on the ticket in July.

While Michelle Obama gave a speech supporting Harris at the Democratic National Convention, she has laid low for most of the campaign.

Michelle Obama will finally emerge just 10 days before Election Day, joining Harris in Kalamazoo, Michigan on Saturday, which is the first day of early voting in the state.

"This election couldn't be closer. Every single vote will matter — even a handful of votes could be decisive in a swing state," Obama wrote on Instagram. "That's why we've all got to #DoSomething during these final few days of the election."

Harris stumbles in home stretch

Obama also has a rally with Harris in Atlanta, Georgia on October 29 with When We All Vote, which is Michelle Obama's nominally "non-partisan" organization dedicated to boosting turnout.

Michelle's husband Barack Obama has already been hitting the swing states, where he has delivered a series of bitter rants against Trump.

While Harris turns to the Obamas for a lift, Joe Biden all but disappeared as Democrats seek to downplay his unpopular record and Harris' role as current vice president.

With signs that she is stalling in the home stretch, Harris has turned to a dark closing argument centered on painting Trump as a would-be dictator.

Harris declared that Trump is a "fascist" during a disastrous CNN town hall Wednesday night, where, left to her own devices, she struggled to answer many basic questions.
