Indiana man arrested for making multiple death threats against Elon Musk: Report

 February 26, 2025

Elon Musk is certainly no stranger to receiving death threats as he's one of the most well-known and successful people on planet Earth. Crazies are around every corner.

Luckily, a particular crazy person from Indiana wasn't able to follow through on threats he made against Musk, as, according to Breitbart, he threatened to "gut" the DOGE head.

David Cherry, 28, was arrested by Indiana State Police earlier this week after he was charged with making death threats against Musk on social media.

Law enforcement officials in Texas alerted the Indiana State Police to Cherry's online death threats, according to police reports.

What happened?

Cherry, a man obviously stricken with severe Trump Derangement Syndrome, made several shocking and disgusting posts revealing his thoughts on killing Musk.

"In an affidavit filed Thursday in Harrison County, Indiana Superior Court, investigators identified several posts made on social media platform X under the username @effective_pawn,” the report stated.

The posts were specific and disturbing, to say the least. One was a direct threat to "plant a bomb" in Musk's residence.

"You’re robbing the American people. We will gut you and parade your corpse through the streets,” while another one of Cherry's posts stated, "I am going to plant a bomb in Elon Musk’s house."

Breitbart noted:

The Indiana officers were able to ping a cellphone to locate Cherry, who they found working at a Batteries Plus in Clarksville, Indiana. He was taken into custody at the location, and later told police he posted the statements to be “edgy” and get attention.

Social media reaction

Users across social media reacted to the news of Cherry's arrest.

"If Trump and Elon is driving you batty. That's not their fault, it's yours. YOU have control over your thoughts. You can choose to consume media that whips you up and makes you miserable or you can choose to focus on things that have more meaning," one X user pointed out.

Another X user wrote, "It is time for more arrests and prosecution of people doing this. It is not a free speech issue."

While it probably won't be the last threat on Musk's life, at least this lunatic was caught.
