California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) worked overtime to secure $50 million in funding to "fight" against President Donald Trump's immigration policies.
That's why it was beyond hilarious that the Democratic governor just asked Congress -- controlled by Trump-supporting Republicans -- for a mind-blowing $40 billion in funding for fire relief.
All without any oversight, according to Breitbart.
Newsom and the California government came up with the whopping sum of $50 million after a special legislative session focused on not complying with the Trump administration's policies.
The California governor is now begging the GOP-controlled Congress for fire relief funds, even as former President Joe Biden provided the state with six months worth of funding before he left office to help rebuilding and recovery efforts.
"Make no mistake, Los Angeles will use this money wisely. California will ensure that funds will serve individuals, communities, property owners, and businesses that suffered losses from these deadly fires," Newsom wrote in a letter published by Politico.
Not only is he begging for the cash with virtually no oversight, he also failed to give anything in return.
Breitbart noted:
Newsom made no offer to the federal government in return — no changes in forest management, no changes in water management, no changes in emergency services, and no commitment to drop the $50 million in negative spending.
Breitbart author Joel Pollak had previously proposed that Trump appointed a special master to oversee federal funds dispersed to the state for fire relief -- a proposal Trump accepted.
Newsom is a reckless, incompetent, dangerous buffoon. There must be oversight. And lots of it.https://t.co/Eq4BJAYn0D

Newsom's request sparked plenty of backlash and discussion.
Users across social media reacted to Newsom's request for the staggering amount in fire relief funding.
"We can’t continue giving money to California without some level of oversight and accountability. California is totaling irresponsible with their spending," one X user wrote.
Another X user wrote, "Newsom reminds me of a college guy walking around with a tennis racket, blowing money from his parents’ trust fund, not worrying about where the money actually comes from."
Only time will tell if he gets the money, but it will undoubtedly come with plenty of oversight as a condition, that's for sure.
