Mark Robinson hospitalized for second-degree burns, currently in 'good spirits'

 September 29, 2024

NC Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, who was recently the target of a CNN piece exposing his alleged past on adult websites and for several controversial statements he allegedly made in the past, continued to have a bad week.

According to The Hill, Robinsin wound up in the hospital being treated for second-degree burns after an incident at a campaign rally.

The incident happened at the Mayberry Truck Show in Mt. Airy, his campaign confirmed on its website.

In the wake of the report exposing his questionable and alleged past, several of Robinson's campaign staffers departed the campaign over the course of the last week.

What's going on?

The candidate wound up being treated for second-degree burns after the incident, which reportedly involved him touching a hot tailpipe.

"I was getting out of the truck and several of my fans and supporters were coming around the truck. I was trying to get out without running into them and doggone if I didn’t lay my hand on that tailpipe, the exhaust pipe,” Robinson said, showing reporters his bandaged hand.

He added, “I am fine. It is just a minor second-degree burn, and it is just fine."

Luckily, Robinson is in good health according to his gubernatorial campaign director.

The director said Robinson "is in good spirits, appreciates the outpouring of well wishes, and is excited to return to the campaign trail as scheduled first thing tomorrow morning."

Controversy

The Hill explained what Robinson has recently experienced in the media.

The health incident comes shortly after Robinson started receiving backlash following the publishing of CNN’s explosive report about the candidate, detailing a flurry of inflammatory comments he apparently made on a porn site messaging board over 10 years ago, including calling himself a “black NAZI.”

In those posts, the lieutenant governor described his pornography preferences and said he would take Adolf Hitler over “any of the s‑‑‑ that’s in Washington.”

The effects of the hit piece have been devastating, as Republicans, including former President Donald Trump, have distanced themselves from Robinson in recent days.

Trump ever mentioned Robinson's name at a NC rally even after previously endorsing him.

Thankfully the candidate is well and in good spirits, but a second-degree burn is definitely the least of his worries at the moment.
