Former Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard blasted vice president Kamala Harris as the new puppet of the "deep state" after Joe Biden announced the end of his re-election campaign Sunday.
Biden's stunning decision came after weeks of pressure from his own political party, which began to fear his age had become a serious liability.
Within hours of Biden's announcement, Harris was quickly anointed by the party's power elite.
In a statement on X, Gabbard blasted Harris and Biden as the mascots of a shadowy political machine that pursues its own interests at the nation's expense.
Gabbard, a former Democrat who has drifted to the right in recent years, echoed Republicans who say Biden was cut loose in a cynical "coup" by the political elite.
"Biden’s out, Kamala is in. Don’t be fooled: policies won’t change. Just like Biden wasn’t the one calling the shots, Kamala Harris won’t be either," Gabbard said.

Gabbard also called Harris the "maidservant of Hillary Clinton" and warned Harris would perpetuate a dangerous foreign policy catering to "warmongers."
"She is the new figurehead for the deep state and the maidservant of Hillary Clinton, queen of the cabal of warmongers. They will continue their efforts to engulf the world in war and taking away our liberty."
In fact, Hillary Clinton promptly endorsed Harris on Sunday, joining a rush of prominent Democrats who did the same.
Gabbard famously called Clinton the "queen of warmongers" after Clinton accused Gabbard of being a Russian asset during the 2020 Democratic primary.
In one of the primary's most memorable moments, Gabbard confronted Harris on the debate stage about her record as a prosecutor.
At the time, some credited Gabbard with ending Harris' presidential campaign, which failed to gain traction after an initial splash of glowing media coverage.
Things have now come full circle, with Harris' background once again coming under scrutiny as she establishes herself as the frontrunner to take Biden's place.
